Clamp collections To celebrate the 20th anniversary of clamp, dark horse will be releasing omnibus editions of five of the group's titles, starting with clover, which was released this past june, and followed by chobits, magic knight rayearth, and card captor sakura.Edited by industry veterans like carl horn, each omnibus will be around 800 pages long, and will condense three to four graphic novels per book. Although further details are not yet known, dark horse entertainment, the company's live action movie department, is working on an adaptation Outlet true religion of corpse delivery service, a horror manga by eiji otsuka and housui yamazaki. They also hinted on a future adaptation of mpd-Psycho, also written by otsuka, and drawn by shou tajima. Both titles are part of a new feature development deal dark horse has entered into with universal studios. Both manga properties are licensed in north america by dark horse. Although there is no information or news available at the moment, richardson confirmed that dark horse was also in negotiations to develop a film based on clamp's clover, but no deal has been reached. Sounds like dArk horse is reAlly reAching outside its normAl genres for this clAmp-A-Palooza.I never had the opportunity(Read:Wasn't interested at the time)To buy ccs in manga form, and only ever got the mkr series 1 omnibus from tokyopop. And although i have that one omnibus, as well as all of chobits, i'll gladly re-Purchase all of these titles in support of clamp. By the way, did anyone notice that only four out of"Five of the group's titles"Were mentioned.Sure, it could mean they're counting mkr or ccs as being composed of two separate series.Or it could mean there's an unannounced title on the way. (Holding out hope for angelic layer! ) Wow, the omnibus news is pretty kickass, especially for newer fans.I won't be double dipping on chobits, and doubtful on ccs(Unless i hear some pretty compelling reasons to), but I am definitely interested in MKR.I have the first release(As in the oversized, mixx version)And never replaced it with the"Authentic"Tp release because the translation was the same(Including mistakes)And it had loads more errors to boot.I've kinda gone off double dipping for several reasons, but of all the clamp titles, mkr is among my faves and a re-Do like the clover omnibus would be worth it. I haven't bought the clover omnibus yet, because i have the tp singles and i'm still deciding if i care enough about the orientation issue to spend the money(Normally:Not really).I've looked at it though-It's gorgeous and i love the extra artwork, but it's heavy and the spine creases so easily. (Nevermind all the ones i've seen in stores are so clearly already read. )Plus i really liked the old cover jackets on the singles since they matched the original jp books. :/ Chobits is a big yes for me as i haven't had a chance to pick that one up yet so an omnibus is a very, very nice prospect. And i might be willing to do the same for cardcaptor sakura as well(Despite having paid a decent penny to pick up the whole thing fairly recently)As i love the series, and if they pull out a fresh translation for the"Master of the clow"Part that got rid of all the numerous.Oddities in there(Iirc, there was some unnecessary rhyming and the like that felt out of place, especially after reading the nice translation on the"100% Authentic"Versions of the first 6. ).Rayearth is a bit unlikely, though, as i only recently picked up the whole of it, and i'm guessing it probably doesn't have the issues master of the clow had(Though i have yet to confirm that as i'm waiting for a few of the pieces to come from rightstuf before reading it. ) Oh, tp's release of mkr has issues.Loads of them.I'm not even sure i remember all the translation/changes to give you a decent list(At least not without re-Reading it), but in addition to those sorts, the re-Issued"Authentic"Version also had various editorial mistakes, the likes of which were a big problem in lots of their earlier stuff across the board.Swapped bubbles, etc)In my mind, mkr is one of those series most in need of a do-Over from those days.In the beginning i always thought i"Wouldn't mind"The issues when next i read the series, some long distant day into the future.Until i re-Read the series some distant day in the future, and wanted to claw out my eyes after. But i suppose in the end it probably only matters if you end up really liking the story and want to read it again and again.I don't recall having issues with motc--But it's been a while since i read that and i wasn't exactly a ccs expert at the time, so i'm sure i could be swayed if given enough incentive. Ah, thanks for that, then.Again, like i said, i'll have to take a look at it once it all arrives and give it a run through to see how much it bugs me, and of course get a better look at what the new collection will be like before deciding whether or not to get it. And as for motc, again, if i'm recalling correctly, i think one of the things that was driving me nuts while reading it was the rhyming and general kiddy-Ish feel in comparison to the translation on the first 6(Which, again, is all i'm judging it on, so i could be completely wrong). And of course it had a lot less catering to the general manga/anime crowd.Maybe a good bit of what got me was the fact that it was just such a change-Up in the feel of the translation from one half to the other. And again, i suppose i'll have to see what they do with the collection version before deciding if i'd want to double-Dip. Oh, and as for the"Fifth collection"That's missing from that list, i'd say angelic layer is probably the safe bet, but i'm seriously hoping it ends up being Uk true religion flare cheapx/1999, as that's the one semi-Out-Of-Print one that i'm really dreading hunting down. Heh.The thought of helming a clover film has always been my most earnest film-School dream(That, and making a live-Action/animation hybrid version of chesterton's the man who was thursday). Assuming this ever goes through, i hope the production team hires an awesome cinematographer and an equally-Gifted art director, to really do justice to the material. If i can't have my dream, i'd at least like to see some damn good cinema.
